I have loved wine since living in France as an undergraduate student, where we studied wine directly with winemakers in famous areas such as Bordeaux. My best friend's family makes wine in Portugal and New Jersey, and she bought me a home winemaking kit for my own experimentation. I made this wine just before moving to France for my MBA, and thus entitled it "A Bientot" (which means 'see you soon' in French). In addition to making and bottling the wine, I designed the label and a matching correspondence card.
HOLIDAY CARD PROJECT
I started making holiday cards in 2006 - my last year of classes for my MA in Visual Culture: Costume Studies at NYU. It was a way to reach out to friends and colleagues and share some creative expression. Here are some of the most popular designs!
Printed on thick hand-cut paper. Meant to be like a postcard that would be a keepsake. The first card I made to start off the yearly series. This was during my MA in Visual Culture at NYU, and I was struck by the nice weather and gorgeous views on a trip back to San Diego - View over San Diego Bay with sailboats.
Still my most popular card! The year after I finished my MA in Visual Culture: Costume Studies at NYU and had my first real fashion job in NYC. The most beautiful parts of a vintage corset could often be found inside! I have heard from people that they still have this card!
This year I designed a postcard! I guess I should have mentioned on the back that the photos were mine - I had a lot of people asking if these were from a professional source - well yes, my own artistic viewpoint!
These images are from a trip around France and Switzerland. This was the same year I re-launched my website and you may notice that the top image on the postcard is the image on the homepage of this site.
